What happens when a forty-year-old percussionist has the right tools for musical expression? He embarks on a project called Uncle Art, a series of recordings for the cutting edge and the test of time. At the age of five, David Arthur Seyboldt performed music in his home, making use of a toy drum set and playing along with whoever cared to make music. Most of the time it was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, whose albums furnished background for David’s playing. From that time, David listened closely to music of every description in the Western World: Children's, Folk, Pop, Rock, Progressive, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Square Dance, Polka, and Country Western. Of these styles, Jazz influenced him most.

What happens when a manifold, minimal artist is allowed to indulge in musical expression with today's technology? He delights in composing “instrumental techno-jazz” punctuated by the sounds of real life. While David was listening to all this music, virtually unknown technicians from around the world were creating the tools that would one day help David create the music for Uncle Art. They are the people who developed MIDI, and MIDI keyboards, as well as computers and the software to make sequencing an easy matter. Because of their efforts, David is able to noodle out the tunes in his head and perfect them.

What happens when a wishful perfectionist stands on the shoulders of musicians from ancient times to the present day? He brings other musicians into the fun, and does all in his power to get the results into the ears of listeners throughout the world. To that end, David established Beezwax Enterprises and Saucy Boppet Publishing in 1997, coincident with the release of “Transmogrified,” the first CD of Uncle Art. As of this writing, copies have gone into all fifty of the United States, plus nearly twenty countries in both hemispheres.

With all of this in mind, David insists these things have little to do with his own making. “Everything I am and have in this life has been given to me,” he says, “What can I do but give in return?” Thus he continues to enjoy the hope of sharing music with the world, and meeting people who enjoy the same.
